 FAQs

  • A psychological evaluation is a structured testing process led by a licensed psychologist to understand how you think, feel, and function day to day. It isn’t a single test. Instead, it’s a tailored mix of conversation, questionnaires, and brief cognitive tasks designed to address your concerns and answer your specific questions.

  • Full evaluations cost $1,299. This includes the comprehensive 60-90-minute assessment, final report, and follow-up session to discuss your results and treatment recommendations.

  • We’re self-pay only at this time. TrueSelf does not bill insurance, and all evaluations are paid out of pocket. If you’d like to seek out-of-network reimbursement, you can submit an itemized receipt to your insurer, but coverage varies by plan and is not guaranteed. We do not submit claims or handle insurance communications on your behalf.

  • Our evaluation happens in two parts:

    1. Initial evaluation (60–90 minutes): A licensed psychologist leads a guided conversation and administers questionnaires and brief cognitive tasks.

    2. Feedback session (~1 week later, up to 30 minutes): Your psychologist reviews the results, answers questions, and outlines next steps.

  • You’ll first review your findings during the feedback session, which gives you time to ask your psychologist questions and clarify next steps. Afterward, your official report (PDF) will be uploaded to your patient portal ready to view, download, and share. It includes a summary of findings, any diagnoses, and actionable recommendations.

  • Your report is a tool you can use in the way that serves you best:

    • Share it with your work or school for support like requesting accommodations or communicating your needs.

    • Provide to a physician (e.g., a psychiatrist) if the findings suggest medication could help.

    • Give to your therapist to align goals, build skills, and tailor treatment based on what the evaluation clarified.

    • Keep it for personal insight—Many people use the findings and recommendations to better understand themselves and make meaningful adjustments to their routines and habits.
